Are you ready for one of Ottawa’s most unique and exciting summer jobs? At Palapa Tours, every day feels like a tropical escape! While there’s plenty of fun to be had, being part of our crew is also a rewarding and professional experience.
What We’re Looking For:
Whether you’re seeking a seasonal job, flexible part-time work, or occasional shifts, we’ve got options to suit your lifestyle. Our shifts include:
- Morning/Daytime: 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM
- Afternoon/Evening: Perfect for night owls, running from 4:30 PM to 11:30 PM
- Full-Time: 35+ hours per week
- Part-Time: 15+ hours per week
- Occasional Work: Fill in gaps as needed
The season runs from Mid-May to Mid-October, with the busiest months being June through August. Whether you’re a student, retired, or just looking to make some extra cash, we may have a position for you!

First Mates/Bartenders:
First Mates and Bartenders need their Smart Serve certification to serve tropical cocktails responsibly. It’s a fun role for those who thrive in a people-focused, vibrant environment.
Captains: Ready to Take the Helm?
Our captains are the backbone of our operations. While it looks like a dream job, it comes with serious responsibilities:
- Transport Canada Certification: Captains need their Small Vessel Operator Proficiency (SVOP) and Marine First Aid certifications.
- Training Program: No SVOP? No problem! We’re offering a 5-day training class in early May to get you certified.
Palapa Tours Helps You Succeed
While captains are responsible for the upfront cost of their training, Palapa Tours offers financial assistance:
- Complete 400 hours in one season, and we’ll reimburse half the cost of your SVOP certification.
- In your second season, we’ll cover the other half.
- For students, we offer a deduction plan to pay for the course through your seasonal paychecks.
